Summer 2000 was pretty memorable for me, I'd just got married...it was also quite memorable for Channel 4 too, they discovered they had a Big Brother. I doubt few people remember the first week of BB, but within weeks everyone was talking about the people sitting in a house, obsessing about chickens, doing pottery tasks and wondering if anyone was even watching them. Well it wasn't just Big Brother watching, it was all of us too!
THEN the TV moment of the year (if not the decade!) happened. Nick. He DARED to write people's names on some scraps of paper to try and get them evicted (tame compared with later series). It was down to our Craig, the cheeky scouser to stop the heinous crime and as Nasty Nick quite rightly said "You live by the sword you die by the sword".
The future years saw me just as addicted to BB as before, loved seeing the new housemates going in and Delish Dermot on BBLB. But round about BB9 (Coincidentally when I left my twenties) happened I decided I was too old for BB and all the fame hungry wannabies... so I stuck to X Factor, I'm a Celeb and Dancing on Ice (would we even have these shows without BB??!!)
Then a funny thing happened at the end of Summer 2010... BB was going ULTIMATE. We got some classic housemates back in, the very funny Brian Dowling, Slick Vic, Nadia, ChantelleNPreston and the return of Nasty Nick (Who actually had lost his touch a bit!!) Suddenly we were all talking about BB again, we wanted Chantelle & Preston to rekindle their love, we wanted Nick to do something really Nasty and we wanted Brian to win (Well I did).
So now it's all over and done with, no more BB (Unless channel 5 buy the rights) Whether you loved it or hated it...it was after all Only A Game Show!
