I should be working on the next chapter of "Twisted Sister" (Betrayal's prequal/sequel) but something is stuck in my head today and until I get it off my chest I don't think I'm going to get another productive word written! Over the last few days a few facebook friends have been posting old New Kids On The Block songs, it's bought back some great memories and while I was listening to a golden oldie "Where Do I Go From Here?" Sung by the angelic vocals of Joey McIntyre...it got me thinking...could I write a dialogue scene using those lyrics?
So, I decided to do a bit of an experiment using two of my characters in Twisted Sister....obviously this dialogue won't appear in the book - it's just for fun (so don't sue me!!!) and to indulge my happy memories of being an NKOTB fan. I'm not revealing the characters names as don't want to spoil anything for readers but I'll give you a bit of background...
He adores her, she thinks she's in love with him, but there are complications...as someone once said "The course of true love never did run smooth" So we join our star crossed lovers after a huge fight, they've calmed down but still need to talk things through... ***Warning this is pretty cheesy, but I kinda imagine it that way!!***
She sat at the island in the kitchen, the intense heat of LA was even making her glass of wine
perspire as she idly wiped the condensation off her glass. She was miles away, thinking about him and how they'd left things. She hadn't expected it to blow up like it did and she certainly had expected him to kiss her. The kiss had totally knocked her sideways.
"Hey you."
She looked up, there he was leaning casually against the door frame, looking totally unruffled by the heat, his raybans perched on the top of his jet black hair. He looked as cool as ever, the only change in him was his trademark smile replaced by a frown. He pushed himself away from the door and walked over to her.
"I had to come and see you, I couldn't leave things like this."
She couldn't speak, she didn't know what to say. He had her stomach in knots, but she knew she had to try and fight the feelings.
He took his shades off and placed his hands on the worktop, his body leaning towards her.
"Tell me, where do I go from here? Do I tell you I still love you?"
She still could talk, she was too busy looking into those ice blue eyes of his.
"Do I tell you I still miss you? Don't you know I can't let you go?"
She moved her lips to speak. but nothing came out.
He carried on talking. "What should I do?"
Her head managed to take control over her heart and she found the words, although what use they were she couldn't say, they sounded pretty lame "I don't know, I don't know."
He took her hands in his. "Can you picture me not loving you?"
She tried to smile "Can you picture me? What I'm going through?"
"So...Where do we go from here?"
Hmmm....where do they go from here??? I haven't decided yet, but now I've got that little scene out of my head I can get back to my latest chapter!
