AMAZON REVIEWS FOR BETRAYAL
Joanne L. Ellis - This review is from: Betrayal (Paperback) Each character has its own unique quality to fall in love with. Summer and Jez's relationship is sweet and I immediately felt endeared to Claudia and hoped she would find happiness. This story sneaks up on you as you try and work out who the killer is amongst them, then Bev delivers twist after twist.
I smiled, I swooned and I cried through this fantastic story.
5.0 out of 5 stars a superb, gripping and weepy read, 11 July 2010 By G. Alleyne "Salsagill" (Uk) -
This review is from: Betrayal (Paperback) This was a can't put down read, twists, turns, surprises throughout.
The characters were believable and charming, the 'bit' in the middle was a shock!, the endeing was great.
I laughed, cried and shouted at the book!
Can't wait to read the next one.

This review is from: Betrayal (Paperback) Betrayal is a story of twists and turns and of love and friendship. It kept me gripped right until the last page. I really cared about the characters and this makes the book a real page-turner. I recommend it to anyone who wants an enjoyable read. It really is an unforgettable story and I can't wait for the sequal.
5.0 out of 5 stars Murder, passion, friendship....and Betrayal, 2 Jun 2010 By C. L. Batty (Cambridgeshire) -
This review is from: Betrayal (Paperback) This is one of those books you pick up intending to read chapter or two, then three hours later you have read the whole thing and you still haven't done a thing you intended to. It's a fun (yes I find murder stories fun) read that will be devoured quickly by those who pick it up.
An easy read with glamorous but believable characters, it's like the world of Midsummer Murders, but set in the wonderful surroundings of NY at the turn of millennium. And like those in the quaint essentially English murder series, there are plenty of beautiful people with great teeth and a whole lot of issues prepared to kill.
Following the passionate relationship of Jez and Summer and their friends after the to violent death of her cousin Marcus, a narcissist who's manipulation strikes out from beyond the grave. Murdered on holiday isolated from the rest of the world, anyone of the eight friends at the centre of the story has a motive.

Looking forward to Bev's next book

A page turner that keeps you guessing throughout!, 15 Jun 2011 By Wendee - See all my reviews This review is from: Betrayal (Paperback)
Loved this book. Couldn't put it down!!!
This book has got a couple of different storylines where you feel you can guess what's going to happen but then it makes you doubt yourself and keeps you guessing throughout, which I loved! Someone is murdered before the book even starts and literally any one of the group of friends have all got reasons why it could've been them.
It's a bit like 'Friends' the tv programme but in a book. You get to know all the different characters in great detail and find yourself relating to at least one of them, if not a couple of them.
Looking forward to the sequel! Hope it won't be too long before it's out.
5.0 out of 5 stars Betrayal, 27 May 2011 By E A Barrington This review is from: BETRAYAL (Kindle Edition) Betrayal Brilliant book. It made me cry and smile. To have good friends in your life is essential this book shows you why, between thick and thin they will stick together.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Betrayal. A novel with so much to offer., 9 Mar 2011 By Jake Barton: BETRAYAL (Kindle Edition) New York at the turn of the millennium, a suitably striking period in which to open a novel that I've yet to assign a genre. That's good as it brings so much more to the fore than I'd initially anticipated. I thought Chick-Lit, but there's so much more here. The Romance element is strong and as a thriller it delivers very strongly in its own right.
Marcus is a splendid creation, fascinating and compelling, while his cousin, Summer links the narrative, particularly as the sleuth who investigates a classic `who-dunnit,' in fine style.
Seven suspects, all friends, all keeping a secret, there's the cast at Summer's disposal. She even doubts herself at times, understandably so given the unexpected, and very well conceived, twists in the storyline.
Some fine writing, for instance the death of Summer's parents, sexual scenes that extend the reader's knowledge of the character's interaction with each other without any hint of prurience and a satisfying and clever resolution at the end.
More than chick-lit, much more. An effective murder investigation with many twists and turns, romantic aspects that are believable and a steady hand keeping it all together. Recommended.
I smiled, I swooned and I cried through this fantastic story.

AUTHONOMY REVIEWS FOR BETRAYAL & LOVE OVERBOARD
P KitCat1980 Bev I have to leave you another comment after reading this :)
To everyone else, having read this from virtual cover to virtual cover I HIGHLY can recommend it. As a 'whodunnit' buff I was chuffed that I worked out the killer - but OMG is that only the start of this story that twists and turns around the loathsome Marcas and and his demise!! Some things I did not see coming, were a great surprise but worked perfectly.
Hankies at the ready folks!
SiCorbz Hi Bev. Betrayal. The Prologue -- NYC '99 -- I immediately thought...."twin towers". I wonder if this event will play a part in the later narrative? You are weaving a spider's web of a plot around the death of the loathsome Marcus (for whom I lost any possible latent sympathy the moment he hit a woman). This is atmospheric -- and the episodic nature of The Prologue sets the scene and introduces the characters/scenario very neatly (...although I note you are -- rightly -- quite careful not to give away too much of the back story at this stage). The car crash death of Summer's parents is especially well written -- and I like the clever touch in giving one of the fire officers the name of Dante! The way Summer and Jez get together sets up a very interesting dynamic for a writer to play with...they will always relate to each other from within the shadow of the accident. Matt's antipathy towards Jez adds another interesting layer. This is an old fashioned 'whodunnit' wearing contemporary clothing...and is all the more entertaining for that fact. ATB Simon
Sly80 New Year's Eve, and the past haunting both Summer and Amber, even Jackson to some degree. Then cynical Matt who dislikes Jez, dreamy damaged Claudia, and CJ with his secret, complete this interesting cast.
Wow, gripping but awful scene with the car. No wonder Summer and Jez got together. Now, hints at an unsolved murder two years ago ... Marcus, and they're all concealing his death? The mystery keeps deepening. Nicely hot sex scene.
Matt's reaction to Jez seems more a matter of distrust. Mm, and Marcus, it seems, was a seriously bad piece of work. Add blackmail to his crimes. 'Marcus had learnt that the hard way' ... first clue?
You've set up this unusual murder mystery well, Bev. Seven suspects, all friends, all keeping the secret while probably only one knows the full facts. Summer even doubts herself at times, but is she putting herself in danger with all this questioning? Great dynamics between the characters ...
Miss Sully
Bev. . . What can I say?
For starters I'm bloody well jealous of Lucie! It might have been raining outside all evening but I've been in the Carribbean! I absolutely loved it - just wish it didn't stop there as I'm dying to find out if that smile at the end lead to anything. . . Im on team Nick so I hope it did! God, Im really not a bad person but they'd be so perfect together! You never forget your first love ;-)You've done a terrific job Bev - this should definately be on the shelves of bookshops all over the place. Your characterizarions, dialogue and overall flow of the story is A1 all the way!
Keeping this on my shelf forever!
C.C.McKinnon Bev, I used to work in travel ;) This is well written and the friendship between Lucie and Zoey is great. Your sense of humour makes your writing flow and I read 3 chapters before taking a breath. What is unusual is that I rarely enjoy Chick Lit, but perhaps it was the memories of my travel life or just your writing, friendly style that helped me enjoy and back this.
Karen Blakeney Aaaah...what a wonderful escape...
This is great fun, and don't we all need to get lost in a good piece of romance every now and then. The characters develop a wonderful rapport and we get to enjoy this in the carefree setting of a cruise right off the bat. The mobile phone encounter made me smile (blushing is a distant memory); grand sense of humor, Bev!
Five years later and blast it! Lucie and Nick did not recognize true love when it was staring them straight in the face. But happily ever after should never come too quickly in Chick Lit. Great conflict to keep us reading.
S Richard Betterton
Hey Bev,
thought I'd jump on board straight away as I have to go out soon.
A few impressions:
Chap 1:
Zoey and Lucie are very easy to believe in, very likeable, and you've painted a great picture of a cruise situation.
Chap 2:
Ah so Nick's back! I didn't read the long pitch (prefer not to) so this came as a (good) surprise. I didn't pay too much attention to the men in chap 1 but now he seems like a decent guy.
'The girl he stupidly let go' - oh we've all got one of them, haven't we?
Chap 3:
The Bacardi Breezers, 'Bottoms up, boobs out.' - great characterisation.
It's very readable, Bev.
Obviously I'm not your target audience but I can appreciate the good writing.
Cheers,
Simon x
